SANFORD J. LEWIS, ATTORNEY

TO:      Members of the Board of Directors

            EI DuPont de Nemours

[Individually addressed to each board member]

As a member of the DuPont Board of Directors, I am sure you agree that it is important for you to ensure that DuPont is effectively managing and disclosing the challenge it faces due to the chemical involved in producing Teflon and other products, PFOA.

Last week a federal grand jury issued a subpoena for documents on PFOA, toward a potential criminal indictment.  After the management disclosed the subpoena, DuPont’s stock price dropped about 2.2% -- from before the announcement on Thursday till the market close on Friday.

Today we are writing to the Securities and Exchange Commission seeking an investigation and guidance regarding the management’s shareholder disclosures regarding PFOA. Our transmittal letter to the SEC, and the accompanying report, are enclosed for your information.

We hope you will join with us in urging the management to more fully and accurately disclose the outstanding issues and challenges facing our company relative to PFOA.

Sincerely,
